The fifth internal meeting was held on Wednesday June 19 around the “One in safety” program at Chemelot. It is now a year since the report “Chemistry in collaboration” was published by the Dutch Safety Board (OvV). Partly as a result of this report, the safety ambition was established within Chemelot and the “One in safety” program was started.
Since then, much work has been done within the three established workflows of the program;
- Leadership & culture
- Management & processes
- Assets
In order to come up with proposals, there is intensive collaboration with experts in various fields such as safety, culture and environment. Within the first workflow, a large number of workshops have been realized around leadership in which themes such as trust, expertise, the role of supervisor and rules play a major role.
The uniform safety communication is running according plan and during the several maintenance stops this theme plays an important role.
In consultation with the organizations at Chemelot, we work together to achieve clear overall management and process agreements with each other. An investment budget has been requested to realize three pilots in which sensors will help to detect emissions at an early stage. The next step is to subsequently be able to act preventively so that emissions can be prevented or minimized.
Coordination with the surrounding municipalities and province has been taken up and progress is also being made at this point. All in all we are make steps and reach progress, but there certainly is a lot of work to be done.
