Never before we had joint safety values and behaviors on Campus. Since last spring we do have values and behaviors agreed upon by the SHE/s council and signed by the Community Board. Values that apply to all common areas on campus. These rules apply to everybody. On top of that your own company might have more rules. So they exist next to one another. We discussed those new values and behaviors with your management earlier this month and they will explain them to you this week. Having rules and regulations is not enough. Acting according to these values means that rules take their effect.
The community board agreed also that every employee of every company on campus should know these values. So they agreed to place them at the entrance of each building. You will be invited this week by your own management to familiarize yourself with these posters. They state:
Brightlands Chemelot Campus is a very diverse community which shares integrity and respect for each other as core value. As a community, we look after each other to ensure everybody acts safely and returns home safely from the Brightlands Chemelot Campus every day.
Joint SHE values for Brightlands Chemelot campus mean that we:
- comply with relevant laws and BCC regulations
- make SHE an integral part of the planning and execution of all activities
- act safely and responsibly
- stimulate continuous SHE-improvement
- give feedback on unsafe behavior, with respect for the other
- learn by reporting unsafe situations and SHE incidents to the Campus organization
“Rule number 2 and 5 are the most important to me. Include safety in everything you do and tell each other when it is not executed in the right way. In a positive manner, so you feel you may learn!”: says Frank Houtvast.
