The big move to Center Court took place on 29 August and now, almost a month later, everyone has found their way to our unique new building. Center Court is more than just a building, it’s a living thing! We went to find out the initial reactions.
The first impression
“Impressive” is the description of Center Court we heard most often, along with beautiful, open, light and spacious. “That makes you feel you’re in a quiet, natural environment,” says Stephanie. “It has all we need.” Of course residents and visitors really make the difference in a building and this will become more and more noticeable in the coming months. “It’s a great place to catch up with colleagues or meet clients,” says Chris.
It’s just a matter of getting used to it
The reactions also show that campus residents still need to get used to the campus atmosphere and the possibilities Center Court offers. “I’m not familiar with everything in the building and how it all works yet, though I do know the restaurant,” was a frequent comment. Visitors to the building also often drop by to grab something quick to eat. Linda confirms how quiet it is outside the lunch period. “It’s really great here during the lunch break, but at other times it could be better. It needs to be livelier.” Luckily, people are gradually finding their way to Center Court to use some of the other facilities. “We’ve discovered that Center Court is the ideal place to meet,” says Jos, “and we use it for all sorts of meetings and sessions. It’s a perfect alternative to my office and makes a nice change.”
A real campus
Tessa says that she expects to have more of a chance to interact with other companies at Center Court. “Obviously you’re going to meet more people here than if you’re the only company in a building. You bump into old acquaintances who work elsewhere on the campus.” “The challenge is to create more openness,” adds Coby. “A lot of buildings are still closed at the moment and you can’t get into them without a pass. That’s logical on the face of it, but it doesn’t mean that everything has to be quite so closed.” “To take the next step in creating the campus atmosphere, you need more activities, interaction and openness,” adds Chris.
And that’s precisely why Center Court is there. The first step has been taken and now it’s a question of building our campus together. Various activities have been planned for this over the next few weeks and months. You never get a second chance to make a first impression. The first step has been taken, now let’s take the next – Make your day!
