The ambition has been expressed from Chemelot that by 2025 at the latest, Chemelot wants to be the most safe, sustainable and competitive site in Western Europe. We want this because we can and want to improve the current safety performance.
This ambition was partly inspired by the publication of the report “Chemistry in collaboration; risk management at the Chemelot industrial complex, published in June 2018.
Safety is an important distinguishing factor in achieving our ambition. In concrete terms, this means that we must improve our safety performance annually in the coming years. That is a big challenge! In order to realize these joint safety ambitions, we started working together on this. Since this summer, a Chemelot-wide program has been launched to achieve this goal under the name ‘One in safety’. This is an important project for Chemelot as a total, now and in the future and therefore for all of us, including our neighbors. The program has three mainsreams; Summer 2018 started therefore our project ‘One in Safety’. In this project there work over 150 employees, from all our different companies, on the Chemelot site to improve our safety. They work on three main themes:
- Safety Leadership
- Governance and processes
- Asset management
During the coming period, these mainstreams will be further addressed and implemented by a total of around 150 employees working at the companies present on the site and the Brightlands Chemelot Campus. They are part of a working group or a sounding board group within the project. Together, we will make Chemelot the most safe, sustainable and competitive chemistry site of Western Europe in 2025!
