Update: Construction work at Brightlands Chemelot Campus
Various construction activities are taking place at Brightlands Chemelot Campus. Some are almost completed, and other projects have started recently.
Construction work at Brightlands Chemelot Campus will involve the following activities from January until February 2021:
Renovation of building 92 and 93
In addition to replacing the technical installations in buildings 92 and 93, work has also started on the construction. The public areas will be partly dismantled and equipped with new floors and ceilings over the coming period. The walls will also be painted to give it a fresh, modern look. This requires a great deal of coordination between the work being done on the technical installations and the residents. The store will remain open!
Plot 110
The work at plot 110 is almost complete. The new shared space surfacing from Center Court to buildings 250 and 220/240 is finished, which has also allowed DSM to start using the new entrance on the north side of building 94. In addition, so-called wadi systems have been built to collect rainwater. The work at the site itself is not quite finished. Among other things, grass still needs to be sown and is scheduled for mid-March/April.
Renovation building 14-18 – Lonza
The renovation of building 14-18, where Lonza has its premises, is in full swing and demands a lot of energy from all involved. In addition to the complexity of the work, a lot of the activities will take place as day-to-day business at Lonza continues.
Brighthouse 300 and Venlo
The construction of the Brighthouses is moving forward at a good pace. They are working on the interior and the technical installation on the inside of the building. Brighthouse 300 is expected to be completed in the summer. The same applies to Venlo, where completion is expected in May.
Expansion on north side of campus
Brighthouse 300 is the first building on the north side of the campus. This expansion requires many modifications to be made to the surface and underground infrastructure to prepare the area for further development. Anyone who has been to the campus lately will have seen large water pipes running along the road and across the road at the entrance to Gate 2. This is the new main sewer connection for the expansion on the north side. Brighthouse 300 will be connected to this system.
Construction on the new entrance at Gate 1 is now also in full swing. The steel structure of the new gatehouse is already visible.
Demolition
Even though a lot has been demolished recently, more structures will be torn down soon. Building 30/31 has just been demolished and we are now moving on to building 51. The former Gate 1 will also be demolished later this year.
