A safe walk to and from your workplace
Safety has a very high priority within the Brightlands Chemelot Campus community. Therefore investments have been made in footpaths and pedestrian areas, to ensure that all Campus tenants can walk safely to and from their workplaces. Unfortunately, observations show that Campus tenants choose to take a non-safe walking route. This behavior is not in line with the
SHE values of the Campus community. The SHE values state that safety should be an integral part of all activities, that Campus tenants should act safely and responsibly, and that everyone should give each other feedback on unsafe behavior.
Regular safety reports within the Campus community indicate that Campus residents are walking on the road between the level-crossing near the parking P5 and the Campus entrance near Gate 2, along the road behind the Gate 2 Campus entrance. The reports address concerns about the fact that car drivers don’t expect Campus tenants walking on this Campus road and the poor visibility of pedestrians during the dark hours in the morning and evening. Although it is not strictly forbidden to walk along or on the road and the chance an actual accident will happen is relatively small because of the low driving speed (maximum 30 km/h), this walking route is not a safe pedestrian route. Campus tenants walk this route mainly to park their car at the parking P5 and to walk to their workplace in a Brighthouse building or in another building on Campus. All of the Campus buildings are very well accessible using the footpath that starts at the level-crossing at the parking P5 along building 170 to building Center Court. This route, intended for pedestrians, is much safer than the route along the road. The walk is a maximum of one minute extra. For your own safety, use this footpath to work safely to and from your workplace starting from the parking P5.
