The number of individual participants in Brightlands Vitality Program rose this year from 72 to 224; a tripling when compared to 2016! Certainly a major success: Have a look at the infographic for the sports results.
According to research by TNO and PricewaterhouseCoopers, if every employee participated in a program of intensive movement for twenty minutes, three times a week, business would save around 1 billion euros across the board annually.
Research by Bernaards into workplace vitality demonstrates that the national average of employees who enjoy sports activities at least once a month at their work place is around 8-11%. The number of active members at the campus shows that here an impressive 10.8% of the community members takes part in sports at Brightlands at least once a month. A ‘sporting’ result, which benefits both the employee and the company!
Noor Bastiaens, who leads the training sessions on behalf of Fysio Bastiaens, is pleased with these developments. What are her reflections on 2017?
“If I were to summarise 2017 I’d say that I’m extremely proud that we got the campus moving; literally! We’re going well beyond the average national percentage of people who take part in sports activities at their workplace. This was something of a high bar we had already set. The fact that we’ve made so many people aware of the importance of vitality, just by word of mouth, is seriously impressive!” enthuses Noor.
“Thanks to the on-campus sports facilities, people have the opportunity to work on their work-life balance, their vitality and their energy levels. Even a couple of moments of physical activity will boost your mental alertness. The campus facilities enable us to plan our activities efficiently, to make sure there’s ample time after work for other things beneficial to our work-life balance. It’s great that Brightlands Chemelot Campus can fulfil this role and bring the parties together.”
The new hit
Numerous sports activities are already planned for the new year, such as the Vitality New Year’s Kick-off on 17 January. “During the New Year’s Kick-Off we’ll introduce the new hit: spinning! We have an instructor who actually works on campus, making it just that little bit extra fun: a work floor colleague who will ‘make you work’, but in an entirely different way! The ‘small group high efficiency training’ also remains popular. In these sessions you train for only 20 minutes in a group of maximum 4 to 5 people, under the expert guidance of a physiotherapist. Results guaranteed!”
Set your goals right for the new year
Along with any new year’s resolutions to start moving more, Noor has another tip to start the new year in an effective manner: “Vitality really doesn’t need to absorb much time! Set your goals right, talk to us about them and we’ll help you draw up an efficient training program, physiotherapy or a sports objective to achieve your aims; successfully!”
