Again the Brightlands Business Club had to meet each other virtually. Unfortunately, but what can you do. Well, you can enjoy the 9 course meal from Mrs. Robinson that we sent along, that’s what you can do!
But first we listened to and discussed about 3 presentations. All about types of financing of your business. First up were Ron Coenen and Jaap Heukelom of Trias and I-medtech respectively. Ron tried to talk us through the “maze of grants” (there are more than 5000 different subsidies for innovation) and Jaap supported the message with a success rate of 7 out 7 requested grants for his company. Many of our members can only dream of such a hit rate. Key message: you have to have a solid business plan and realize that subsidies are hardly ever “free money”.
Then we were allowed a sneak preview of the Conchylium fund of Alex Jaminon. They have recently started operation and they happen to focus on high-tech start-ups and scale-ups: Agro-food, Water (purification), Circularity, Renewable Energy, “Deep-tech” and Health/biopharma. All right in the heart of the focus areas of the Business Club, so a perfect match. Due to Corona they haven’t made an investment yet but they are talking to several parties. We will get the scoop if the first deal is done.
Finally Roberto Lanckohr spoke to us about football and the investment/financing possibilities of ING. He explained how they deal with commercial real estate, and mentioned their newly developed “Groenbank” which allows a discount on a (fixed) interest for circular initiatives. Again, right up our alley, I would say.
